The spectator magazine called the thirty three mile Milford track tat goes through the Fordland national park in New Zealand as the finished walk in the world.  Sir Edmund Hilary was one of the fans who loved coming for these walks.

This park is a part of the Te wahipounamu which is liasted as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This place has incomparable beauty. It has a unique combination of rainforests. There are rushing rivers and glacially carved alpine heights which yield vistas that make you feel as though you have stepped into an actual picture postcard. The best part about this place is that you could be a novice or an expert trekker, and you will still enjoy all the benefits of Milford. This place offers a lot of solitude.

Also the water that runs through out is supposed to be quite clean and pure , so you are in fact encouraged to drink the running water wherever you may see it.

There is a trip conducted with about fifty travelers on a five day trip. This included three days of a lot of serious walking.

The Milford track is what professionals would call an actual trail. This place is promoted as a place which is neither too easy, nor too difficult. Children under ten years of age are not allowed by policy. If someone is over seventy years of age, then they have to get a fitness clearance from their doctor. Well, in simple words, the many city folks who are not really accustomed to walking more than a few minutes would find the trail quite hard, although the experienced hikers would have it way easier. Although they wouldn’t find it challenging.

The weather plays a large role in the trek. The weather is quite unpredictable. There are frequent rains and snow that happen during the summer in the southwest corner of the New Zealand.

The number of hikers who are allowed to walk the Milford track per day in peak season is limited to ninety.  Fifty hikers who are allowed to have the private guide company, Ultimate hikes, New Zealand. This is an exclusive franchisee of the tour guide. Fifty other walkers can register themselves as independent walkers with the New Zealand department of conservation.

Each sponsor has his or her own overnight accommodation. Everyone who climbs walks along the same direction. They start from the north which is the head of the lake Te Anau and go toward Sand fly point with is located on milford Sound.  This route dates back all the way from eighteen hundred and eighty eight. Two Scottish men, Quinten Mackinnon and Ernest Mitchell, climbed up almost half a dozen steep switchbals and then on to the mountain pass. This pass now bears MacKinnon’s name and his memorial is actually marked with a cross.

This is mainly because the boat transportation is required at both ends.  The most practical way for traveler to walk around the Milford is to sign with Ultimate hikes. These send groups out every day for six months. The head quarters of this place is based in Queenstown.
