Republic of Vanuatu is a small island nation located in Melanesia in South Pacific Ocean. It is an archipelago of volcanic origin situated about 1,750 km east of Australia and about 500 km northeast to New Caledonia. National capital is Port Villa.
Geography:
Epi is mainly a volcanic island and its highest point of elevation is Mount Pomare (833 metres), a quaternary volcano. Lopévi and East Epi are the other volcanoes in the island. To the northwest of Epi lies the sandy beach of Lamen Bay and the small Lamen island. The bay features a few coral reefs. In the west, there is Cape Forland while Valesdir lies in the southeast and Drummond Bay in the northeast. The uninhabited islet of Namuka lies to the south. Black sand beaches and small freshwater lakes are also found in Epi island.
Reaching Epi:
By air:
Lamen Bay Airport in the northwest and Valesdir Airport in the southwest serve as the entry point to Epi. Air Vanuatu flights connect these two airports. Lamen Bay is connected with Craig Cove, Ambrym while flights for Tongao and Emae in the Shepherds Islands are available from Valesdir.
