Dunedin vacation : A fun experiance
New Zealand | Write a review | November 23, 2010The coast of Otago stretches from the Waitaki river and goes all the way to the Clutha river which is located on the South islands eastern coast.
When you reach halfway into Dunedin, which is built around the Otago harbour, this is where the Otago Peninsula lies.
With a population of around one hundred and twelve thousand, this second largest city on the island is a commercial centre for the Otago region. This place gets its name from the Gaelic region of Edinburgh. The city has been established in the nineteenth century. And the buildings here look Edwardian. In fact they are considered to be quite unrivalled amongst any of the places in the whole of the southern hemisphere.
There are lots of attractions and activities here in the architectural heritage of Dunedin. The city has also been provided with what seems like notable buildings and a train station. There is a town hall, and a university with lots of churches. This place has a private residency which is worth noting, and these also include Olveston. This is a famous Jacobean style home which is surrounded by twelve hectares of gardens in the woodland. The castle here is Neo gothic and it represents some of the finest craftsmanship from the nineteenth century.
The Dunedin sound is a guitar based sound with music. This is a student city and this place enjoys an awesome vibrant student culture during the time of its term. The guitar based music sounds almost ethereal and would make an impression on you during your Dunedin vacation. It has intense vocals and it has a cult-indie status which is known all over the world. A lot of the students from here come from many other parts of the country. Some of them even stay till after their degree is done. There are people who want to be artists, writers, musicians and such, and because of this the city has a lovely, aspiring art culture.
The cosmopolitanism is quite prevalent here and is available in a lot of the eateries. There are lots of nationalities where the food and other things associated with it are well catered for on your Dunedin vacation.
Some of the most amazing attractions here is the abundant wildlife, which is about fifteen to twenty minutes away from the business district which is right at the center.
There are many nature and wildlife tour companies that make your whole trip quite awesome. There are fur seals, which are endangered and be sure to catch a view of the yellow eyed penguin, the many cormorants and the albatross. This is where the whole world has the largest collections of sea birds that live within the confines of easy human access.
