Wollongong Australia
New South Wales | Write a review | June 24, 2010Wollongong is the third largest city in Australia. The city is quite friendly and charming with loads to do and lots of places to visit.
Being so diverse in its population, the city has a wide variety of food to offer.
Let us take a look at what happens in Wollongong once the sun sets.
- The Grand Hotel :
This place used to be an upper bar with a very hotel atmosphere until it turned to a nightclub. Now it houses the best national and international D J’s. - Lorenzo’s Diner :
The good food guide in Australia, presented (for the first time) this marvelous restaurant with a ‘single hat’. This diner is known to serve the most scintillating Italian cuisine. - The north Wollongong pub :
This place is known for the local ‘university of Wollongong’- crowd coming in. This place has a garden, a bar and a bistro. It has an upmarket cocktail lounge which you wont get to see; unless you are dressed formally.
- Illawarra :
This hotel is open almost late until three in the morning. It gets in the most hep crowd. The place has been refurbished and fitted with chrome and wooden fittings to give it that contemporary look. - Harp hotel :
This pub is probably the oldest pub in this city ! This place is extremely hard to get into on a Friday night. The crowd here is more patronized and mostly young.
- Castro’s nightclub :
This place was called “Rusty’s”; previously. This club is famous amongst the Gay community. However, a lot of younger crowd keep coming in quite regularly. - Oxford Tavern :
This place is known for it rebellious-dressed clientèle. It place plays music throughout the week like Hard rock, Punk rock, jazz. Even hip-hop is played here.
- The five islands Brewery :
The specialty of this place is tht is brews its own beer. And the sixth island bar facing the pacific ocean where you can just unwind with some beer and barbeque’s. - The beach Bar :
Now known also as H2O , this bar is famous for staying open through Sunday and serving pilsner on taps. - CBD Sports Bar :
If you are into exclusives, then this place serves you Resches Draught. This used to a common beer in traditional Sydney.
- Fever nightclub :
This place was earlier known as “Bluenote”. Getting to this place is easy. This club is known to play the best in dance, hip-hop and r&b music. Since this place is one of the few that have a license to keep the music playing till late, the dance-floor is pumping from Friday right through to Sunday. The crowd that comes here is pretty diverse.
Although you are in a mood to shake your leg and have a great time, don’t get too carried away and leave your drink unattended; as there have been reported cases of spiking of drinks and alcohol related violence. So along with having fun you might want to be careful not to end up in unneeded messes.
So take some time off and unwind in the charming city of Wollongong!
